One thing you might notice about our shelf this month if you also read my blog post from 13 months is very little has changed. We have done very little shelfwork this month. We have been very interested in practical life and in being outdoors. We were also away a decent bit this month. All in all, we didn’t do a ton of shelfwork and that reflects in our shelf looking basically the same.

Carrot posting is still an absolute favorite activity for Yitzchak. I tried introducing the coin posting and he was working on it but I switched it back to carrot posting because he clearly enjoys that more at this time (they use the same base so it is one or the other). It is without a doubt one of our favorite materials. This came in our Lovevery kit, alternative carrot posting option here.

We have also been working on two different stackers this month. One is the Lovevery one in his bedroom and the other is the Ten Little one in the living room. These have continued to capture his interest.

I have brought more stacking materials out this month. He has been enjoying stacking block towers of one and two blocks. He has been less interested in stacking the stacking stones in the living room though I brought them out later in the month. I am giving him a chance to discover them so I am leaving them out for now.

We are still working on the peg drop. He easily puts the pegs in but is still trying to figure out the interaction between the lever that slides open the drop and the pegs dropping. He has figured out to open it and then put the pegs in but has not put them in and then opened it. When it is closed he tends to get frustrated trying to push the pegs through. That said I think this is a good challenging material for him.

We have also shown more interest in the multi-piece puzzle this month. We are far from mastering it but he can put in a few pieces and is showing more interest.

Next to the shelf we have his Lovevery ball run which he loves to play with. Above the shelf we still have his rainbow drum and a basket of balls.

On the living room shelf we have the ever-present teethers as well as the stacking stones and stacker I mentioned. We also have the bunnies in a burrow from Lovevery which he is loving. We use these in two ways. He uses them for independent play, taking them in and out and we use them for play together. I will verbalize the words “in” and “out” and he loves when I make the bunny “hop hop hop” on him- a reminder that playing together is wonderful too!

Basically all his favorite toys this month came in our Lovevery Babbler kit. I have spoken before about how much I love Lovevery (we have been paid subscribers since birth), but I think this kit in particular is really great. If I were to only buy one kit of the ones I have gotten so far it would be the Babbler.

This month we spent a lot of time outside. He is walking really steadily and running now too. He also is loving gross motor play such as balls and going down slides.

Another favorite activity this month is practical life. We introduced an egg slicer to cut fruits and vegetables (avocado, strawberries, etc.) His favorite toy might be his mini broom (it was last month as well). He also mastered pouring into a glass and loves watering plants.
